This page-set is just offered as an example of how JavaScript can be used to provide client-side functionallity previously unavailable to HTML jocks and jock-etts.

Several example Neural Net Consultation apps are provided ...

  • 2-way XOR - is a feedforward net that was trained by standard backpropagation to perform even parity generation for a 3-bit input pattern.

  • 3D Kohonen - is a Self-Organizing Map trained, using a modified version of Kohonen's neighborhood function, to classify 5x7 bitmaps of uppercase english characters.
Warning: Resizing this window will reset a mangled pattern in the Pattern Viewer/Mangler to the currently selected Training Pattern.

NOTE: Both of these networks were originally trained using the havBpNet++ and havFmNet++ neural net class libraries from hav.Software.

NEW 6-4-19 - LOL ... Corrected instructions on the 3D Kohonen example to note placement of the node which fires for the "A" pattern. Apparently I had changed the map used in the demo without updating the instructions frame HA HA HA HA

12-21-04 - Updated so that both the XOR and Kohonen demos SHOULD now work on with Gecko based browsers.

01-08-97 - Cleaned up the Kohonen example to make it a little faster to use. Also, replaced use of gifs with simple table-cell background color in the pattern mangler.

12-30-96 - Allowed MSIE v3.0 and above to enter the demo - It won't yet work correctly, but maybe it will help get Netscape and MS versions inline ... {;-)

2-3-96 - Added Winner's Scaled Absolute Error Display for the 3D Kohonen example.

2-2-96 - The 3D Kohonen map Reload Syncronization has been fixed! - Thanks Brendan & Richard!.

1-27-96 - The 3D Kohonen map is ready!

1-23-96 - You may now SAVE and RESTORE network states (weights and Bias values) in the 2-way XOR example. Network state is saved and restored using the Netscape Cookie feature. Saved states will be retained for 72 hours. Also, you may now to examine a list of saved states using the View Saved ID List button.

Anyway - take a look - enjoy - and please send any ideas on how these examples might be improved..

ooba ooba,
Horace
